CULTIVATION:
- Full sun to semi shade.
- Regular watering but can sustain drought.
- Relatively frost hardy.
PROPAGATION:
- Relatively slow growing.
- Seldom produce suckers and is almost exclusively propagated from seed.
NATURAL HABITAT:

In Swaziland and the natural habitat is restricted to the valley of the Umbeluzi river.

Plants grow on steep slopes in savannah and bushveld.
STEM:
- Erect subterranean stem.
- Stem can reach a length of 30 cm and a diameter of 20 – 30 cm.
LEAVES:
- Glossy dark green leaves.
- Leaves are straight and stiff but can slightly curve downwards when in the shade.
- Leaflets don’t shield one another.
- Leaflet margins usually have 1 – 3 teeth to the terminal part of the leaflet.
- There are no spines on the basal rachis.
